Stew: I'll see your "House flooded by a burst water pipe" and raise you a "Fucking huge van crashed into the side of my house".

I'd fold if I were you.

Piccies of this dramatic incident will be coming soon - suffice to say we're very shaken by the incident but i think we've gotten away lightly in terms of damage.

So I've decided to pick up my self-learning a bit by downloading the XNA framework and c#, and converting Botty such that it works on that framework and subsequently on my Xbox 360. In doing this, i've reminded myself how much i love C#, and also how much of a geek i am. I'm totally in code heaven right now, to the point where words like "Private function" and "Public enemy" are suddenly starting to sound more like programming terms than pissups/rap groups.

Really enjoying it :)

Not updated in a while, thought i'd stick one on quickly.

Things are going good at the moment. Work have given me some quite chunky .net platform work of late so it's something nice to get my teeth into and I'm doing okay at it. Hopefully, playing a blinder on this one will result in more of these in the future.

The spectacle of being engaged hasn't quite worn off just yet, and the flames of excitement are being kept ever burning by the fact that wedding plans have now begun. I won't say that it's easy and stress free, because quite frankly i think that would be a lie. I have an early worry that certain politics will come into play later on in the preparations (should we invite them? We haven't seen them for years.. but if we're inviting this other person then they may get offended... etc..)

We'll just play that one by ear i think. Fact is, there's limited spaces at the venues we're looking at and we won't comprimise on getting the perfect place just because some old friends (who we haven't seen for years) will get offended. Foot has gone down ;)

New cat is fine, and now gets on really well with our current cat. Despite my best efforts to stay sensible with him, he has a very poweful spell which just turns people into childish buffoons when they're around him. Therefore, both cats now have the nicknames "Noodles" and "The Bam" and between them they now have their own theme tune and intricateley designed back stories.

Man, what is it about cats?

Although i don't really update my journal that much anymore, I figured that I would make a post to give you guys a bit of good news. I proposed to Laura on Xmas day and she accepted :)

I had made the decision to not get a proper ring for the proposal itself (substituting in a token 'nice looking' ring in lieu of the pair of us going ring shopping to choose one together). Part of that decision was because I don't really have have an eye for these things, and although i like to think that I know Laura inside out, it's a decision that I wanted to make *with* her rather than *for* her.

Additionally, one can't ask the dimensions of a girls ring finger without arousing some suspicions...

So anyway, I had sought permission from her parents a few days before xmas, and nerve-wrackingly popped the question at about 8 O'clock xmas day before announcing our news to the gathered amily members. In a word, it was a very nice day :)

And so was today, because we went into the Jewelerry quarter in Birmingham and purchased a ring, this making it official. Gratuitous 'money shots' of said ring follow below. See you all at Eddies on NYE people!

Over the last week or so, we've been watching the Starshipp Troopers "trilogy".

Now, the first film is an absolute classic and if anything should be thought of in terms of being the final part of a seperate trilogy: Robocop and Total Recall being its two prequels. The uber-right wing humans and tongue in cheek "perfect future" are consistant thoroughout each and are observed and realised in an intricate and incredibly humourous way.

Starship Troopers 2, however, made me want to gouge out my eyes and gnaw my arms off.

But the third part, which we watched last night, is actually very good! Seriously, it's not a classic but it's definateley worth a watch. Suprising really!
